John Farnam, writing at Ammo Land, notes that the "Myth that Bear Spray Will Save You Proves Deadly Once Again." This incident involves a couple and their dog hiking in Banff National Park in Canada’s Alberta Provence. They were attacked and killed by a female grizzly bear. Their partially eaten bodies were found near their campsite along with a fully-discharged can of bear spray. As Farnam points out, "[t]he 'bear-spray will protect you' fantasy has been sold to naive hikers for years. It may work some time, yet this couple bet their lives on it, and it didn’t."
