I've always figured that people that lie for a living eventually become so used to lying that they can never be trusted to tell the truth. Hence, I suspect, this headline: "Former CIA officials worry Trump could politicize and weaponize intelligence agencies."
“I think a lot of it depends on who they put in as director, deputy and chief operating officer”at the CIA, said one former senior intelligence officer. Those appointments will set the tone and determine if the spy agency is able to maintain professional, apolitical standards or whether it becomes the target of a politically-motivated overhaul, the former officer said.
I'm not sure what is worse: the continual lying through insinuation about Trump wanting to be a tyrant, or the shear chutzpah in pretending that the intelligence agencies were not already politicized and weaponized against the enemies of the Deep State.
In this regard, I think it is telling that the residents of the District of Columbia voted 90.4% in favor of Kamala Harris (the AP pegs it as over 92%). It even shows up on the Washington D.C. suburbs. Prince George's county in Maryland, for instance, voted 85.9% for Harris; and Montgomery county was at 73.8% for Harris. Over in Virginia, Alexandria was 77.9% for Harris. This is so far out of line with the rest of the country (including the states that went for Harris) that it is a perfect illustration of how radicalized is the federal bureaucracy.
Projection. End the intelligence agencies.
ReplyDeleteBecause they view themselves in the role of kingmakers, something will need to be done. At the same time, we should end DHS and send all the agencies it overseas back to their original departments (e.g., Secret Service back to Treasury, Coast Guard back to Transportation, etc.).
