Fauci Complains About Marjory Taylor Greene Calling Him A Mass-Murderer

The Daily Mail reports that Dr. Anthony Fauci is complaining of media coverage of people saying bad things about him because then he gets death threats. He specifically singled out Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) for her heated questioning of him during a House hearing on Monday. Appearing in an interview later, Fauci "said it's become a 'pattern' that he receives death threats after becoming the name behind the White House team combating coronavirus."

'Whenever somebody gets up, whether it's news media—Fox News does it a lot—or it's somebody in the Congress who gets up and makes a public statement that I'm responsible for the deaths of X number of people because of policies or some crazy idea that I created the virus, immediately—it's like clockwork—the death threats go way up,' Fauci explained.

Fauci detailed some of the death threats in his testimony – and received even more criticism for saying he 'made up' some of the rules surrounding COVID-19, like social distancing. He also admitted there wasn't science to prove that masking children in schools helped stop the spread of the virus.

"Fauci blamed MTG for the death threats," the article relates, "claiming her 'unusual performance' at the hearing contributes to the messages he receives."

Greene hit back on X, acknowledging that no one should get death threats, but pointing out that she gets death threats all the time; and Fauci gets Secret Service protection (although he retired from government service in 2022) while she does not. Then she added:

'It's not my comments that have people furious at Mr Fauci, it's the FACT that his ridiculous, non-scientific, tyrannical policies DESTROYED people's lives and he's a narcissistic ass hole and liar which is why SO MANY people hate him,' she argued.

'Under Mr Fauci's leadership, viruses have been turned into deadly bioweapons and animals are murdered and abused, while he and his cronies get RICH off of patents they made while receiving government funded paychecks and running powerful government agencies that dictate medical guidelines and regulations.'

She concluded: 'Mr Fauci belongs in prison for crimes against humanity!!!'

And, notwithstanding how intelligent he believes himself to be, his lies are starting to show cracks. For instance, at the House hearing, Fauci still denied that the NIH had funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab. As Reason reports on the exchange:

While the NIH-funded research by EcoHealth at the Wuhan lab met the generic definition of gain-of-function research, it did not meet the narrower federal regulatory definition of dangerous gain-of-function research aimed at enhancing potential pandemic pathogens, said Fauci.

"Every time I have mentioned gain-of-function—at the Senate hearing with Senator Paul, at the [transcribed interview with the Coronavirus Subcommittee in January], and today—the definition that I use is not my personal definition, it is a codified, regulatory and operative definition" found in the Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) 2017 Framework for Guiding Funding Decisions about Proposed Research Involving Enhanced Potential Pandemic Pathogens (P3CO) that regulates potentially pandemic-causing research, said Fauci.

Therefore, Fauci stressed, he was not being dishonest by saying that NIH had not funded this specific type of regulated gain-of-function research.

The Reason article discusses why Fauci's testimony is false or misleading, but let me provide my own thoughts: This is an after-the-fact excuse. That Fauci believed he was engaged in gain-of-function research when he funded it is obvious from the fact that he financed the research to occur outside the United States because such research is illegal inside the United States. If Fauci believed that the research was not gain-of-function, he wouldn't have needed to move it to a foreign country.
