Two-Tier Justice System: Secret Service Agent Open's Fire On Car Thieves, But Not Arrested

Just the News reports: "Secret Service agent protecting Biden granddaughter opens fire on suspected auto burglars." The article is brief, but reports:

A Secret Service agent assigned to protect President Joe Biden's granddaughter opened fire on people who attempted to break into a government vehicle in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Gugliemi said Monday.

The incident occurred shortly before midnight Sunday when "Secret Service agents encountered possibly three individuals breaking a window on a parked and unoccupied government vehicle," Gugliemi said. "During this encounter, a federal agent discharged a service weapon and it is believed no one was struck."

The suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle.

I would point out that in pretty much any jurisdiction in the United States, if you or I had done this we would have been arrested and our firearm(s) confiscated because we are not allowed to use deadly force to prevent a property crime. In this case, there is nothing to indicate that even the fleeing felon rule would have applied to allow law enforcement to use deadly force.

    1. I came across another article that indicated that the vehicle stolen was one of them used for transporting Biden's granddaughter. So perhaps it was up-armored?
