Gun Safe Headrest

You can tell people all you want to not store or keep firearms in their vehicle, but it is still going to happen because people will, at some point, have to make an errand that takes them into a non-permissive environment. There are a plethora of vehicle lockboxes available for safekeeping a pistol, but a company called the Headrest Safe Company has an unusual solution: a lockbox concealed inside the headrest of a front driver's or passenger seat. It's designed to look like a standard headrest--you can even buy a matching one without a lockbox to make sure it doesn't stand out--but one side is hinged revealing the door to a hidden lockbox.

As far as I could determine from the photographs and information at the manufacturer's website, there is no way to lock the headrest into the seat. It appears to solely rely on being inconspicuous to avoid a criminal simply removing the headrest and making off with the whole thing. At least traditional lockboxes are designed to bolt into the floor boards of a vehicle.

My other concern is that if you are transferring a weapon from your waist to the lockbox, it will be clearly visible through the vehicle windows. I guess you are supposed to put the weapon in the lockbox before leaving home and only access it in an emergency or when you return home.
