Virginia Dems Ramp Up Rhetoric Against 2nd Amendment Sanctuaries

Earlier this week, it appeared that the Democrats in Virginia's state house realized that attempting a full-on gun confiscation was a bridge too far, and they conceded that any "assault weapon" bill would include a grandfather clause for "assault weapons" already owned by Virginians. But that hasn't caused the Sanctuary Movement to go away, and so Virginia politicians are back to blustering threats against gun owners that won't grovel before them and kiss their feet.

First up is Virginia Governor Ralph Northam who is warning of dire consequences to sanctuary counties and sheriffs. Northam told reporters:
Gov. Ralph Northam said Wednesday localities could face consequences if law enforcement officers don't enforce gun laws.

When asked by a reporter if local governments would face retaliation for declaring themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries, Northam responded, "There's not going to be retaliation. That's not what I'm about. I'm about making Virginia safer."

Northam continued, "If we have constitutional laws on the books and law enforcement officers are not enforcing those laws on the books, then there are going to be consequences, but I'll cross that bridge if and when we get to it."

Northam did not offer specifics on what the potential consequences would be.
 (H/t Bearing Arms).

Virginia Congress-critters Gerry Connolly and Donald McEachin offered up suggestions as to those consequences. Connolly suggested that law enforcement officers that failed to enforce the law should be prosecuted. McEachin went even further, suggesting that Virginia's state government could cut off financial assistance to counties, and that the governor could even call out the national guard to enforce the laws.

I think that they are hoping for an armed insurrection to justify full on confiscation and imprisonment.

  1. Seems to me that Virginia could soon become a "vacation destination" for patriots living in surrounding states. I've already read much chatter online about people considering heading to Virginia to stand alongside and defend their fellow Citizens if necessary.

    1. I would be wary of anyone recommending "direct action" at this point because they probably are FBI or ATF. Nonviolent protest or resistance is the key at this stage; make government appear to be the oppressors or aggressors at all times. The comments by the Dem politicians are pure gold in this regard. Setting up charitable organizations to provide assistance to the people impacted by events would be helpful. As would be some solid networks to distribute news and information.
