Article: "Radio station WWV to celebrate 100 years"
Story from the Loveland Reporter-Herald (h/t KA9OFF). If you are not aware of WWV, it is run by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) (formerly the Bureau of Standards), and broadcasts time announcements, standard time intervals, standard frequencies, UT1 time corrections, a BCD time code, and geophysical alerts 24/7. It broadcasts on the following frequencies: 2.5 MHz, 5 MHz, 10 MHz, 5 MHz, and 20 MHz. Growing up, my father would periodically tune our short wave receiver into WWV and then calibrate our clocks to it.
