We all know the expression "comparing apples with oranges," and its corollary, "apples with apples." However, there are different types of apples, and depending on their texture, flavor (sweet versus more sour), and acidic level, some apples are better for some things than others. The infographic above notes that different apples and whether they are good for fresh eating, baking, being made into sauces (or
apple butter), or best for pies. Note that with a couple of exceptions (Honey Crisp and Golden Delicious), apples that are good for baking are not good for fresh eating, and vice versa.
Pocket Change Gourmet has a lengthier list of apples and their uses for those that are interested.
