First Impressions: Cherokee Accessories HK/Cetme Cheekpiece

Cherokee Accessories HK/Cetme Cheekpiece--instructions.
I have a Cetme rifle on which I installed HK G-3 furniture. The rifle is capable of much greater accuracy than achievable with the iron sights (at least with my tired eyes), thus calling for installation of a telescopic sight. However, due to the layout of the HK/Cetme furniture and how a scope is attached, it is not possible to get a good cheek weld when looking through a scope. The Cherokee Accessories HK/Cetme Cheekpiece is an inexpensive option to add a cheek riser to the standard HK or Cetme scopes. I purchased my particular model through RTG Parts for $44.95 plus shipping.

Cheek riser installed on a G-3 stock (Note: I noticed that I did a bad job of composing this photograph. The top of the cheek piece is straight; it is the top edge of the sofa cushion that makes it look like it has a bit of curve or bump).
The riser is is made of a fairly rigid plastic. It fits tightly over the stock, with studs that fit into the takedown pin holes in the stock (holes in the stock that are designed to hold the pins that hold the butt stock to the receiver (on the left of the picture) when the rifle is stripped down for cleaning or maintenance. It provides the appropriate height for looking the scope while providing a good cheek weld.

The layout of the tabs.
The cheekpiece comes with multiple studs--or tabs--to make it compatible with various stocks. However, you have to cut out the excess studs. Thus, you can't move the cheekpiece between different style stocks.

Installation (including trimming the tabs) was pretty quick, and the tabs and the general tight fit appear adequate to keep it in place. However, only time on the range will really tell. The surface of the cheek piece is just rough enough to provide some texture, but not enough to be uncomfortable. As a nice added touch, the cheek piece includes a small tubular storage area that would be handy for keeping cleaning supplies or extra batteries for an illuminated sight or flashlight. It is accessed through a cap on the back of the cheek piece (see below).

Storage access.
In short, my first impressions is positive and I look forward to trying this out on the range.
