CMMG Mk. 47 Review by TFB

The Firearms Blog reviews CMMG's Mk. 47--an AR style rifle with a lower specifically designed to take AK magazines (thus using an ambidextrous magazine release like that of the AK), shoots 7.62x39, but otherwise operates like the AR and accepts accessories for the AR. According to the reviewer, he averaged sub-2" groups at 100 yards, even using cheap steel cased ammo--with a best group of 1.29 inches. It also worked flawlessly with a variety of AK style magazines. It is a direct impingement system. More info and pictures at the link.

Presumably, this eliminates some of the common complaints about the AR system--namely, it offers the possibility of setting up a truly ambidextrous rifle; and allows for a more powerful cartridge in a common caliber, but without having to step up to a .308. It would have had more appeal with a gas-piston, but perhaps that would not be cost effective. But I like what I see.
