On the most recent podcast with John Wilder, I predicted that it would probably take a decade to replace the bridge owing to all the red tape. And I was correct according to Stephen Green at PJ Media: "The Key Bridge was built at a cost (adjusted for inflation) of about $200 million. Replacing it could take a decade and cost $400 million to $800 million dollars, according to experts in what has become a dismal field."

We have lost our ability to attain great things - especially at the governmental level.
ReplyDeleteThis is what Joseph Tainter would refer to as additional complexity. More specifically, additional complexity that costs more to implement than the benefit it provides; i.e., a negative return on investment. It's a sign of impending civilizational/state collapse.
