Nigerian Bandits Kill 51 Villagers

The BBC reports that a gang of former cattle rustlers has killed at least 51 adults and children in the village of Gwaska, in  the Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna state. The attack occurred this past Saturday afternoon. Survivors reported that the bandits lit houses on fire, causing the villagers to flee in panic straight toward gunmen.

On a side note, Nigerian law prohibits ownership, manufacture, and sale of any firearms--including muzzle loaders--or ammunition without a license issued by the national police. The Nigerian police have refused to issue new firearms licenses for several years.
