Ebola Outbreak in Guinea

A couple reports about the recent outbreak of ebola in Guinea (Yahoo News and Daily Mail). From the article at Yahoo reports:

"At least 59 out of 80 who contracted Ebola across the West African country have died so far. Over the past few days, the deadly haemorrhagic fever has quickly spread from the communities of Macenta, Gueckedou, and Kissidougou to the capital, Conakry," UNICEF said in a statement emailed to AFP.

Conakry, a vast, sprawling port city on Guinea's Atlantic coast, is estimated to have a population of between 1.5 and two million.

What makes this outbreak particularly interesting is how far it has spread. The villages where it initially started are in the interior of the country, in the southeast, while the capital, Conakry, is in the west of the country, on the coast. Normally, ebola is so deadly that it burns out before it has a chance to travel very far.
