No. It is a plot to make it harder for law abiding people to buy or sell guns. Hence, it should have no impact on the Democratic core constituencies.

Short take: Although the new rule requires all "responsible persons" in a firearms trust to undergo a background check, it eliminates the requirement that the local chief-law-enforcement-officer approve the transfer of an NFA item: one of the primary reason for people having used a trust in the first place.

Short take: the President's "executive action" is weak and pretty much just tells the ATF to exert more effort at enforcing the current laws against the unlicensed selling of firearms.

- Hundreds of Arab and African men sexually harassed/assaulted women in Cologne on New Year's Eve. Per the Washington Post: "More than 90 criminal complaints were filed, and about a quarter of them cited sexual harassment or groping, with most others citing theft, Cologne Police Chief Wolfgang Albers said at a news conference on Monday night. Small groups of men would emerge from the larger crowd to surround, harass and sometimes steal from women, Albers said." There was also one allegation of rape. But, from an article in the San Francisco Chronicle, is this: "'It's completely improper ... to link a group that appeared to come from North Africa with the refugees,' [Cologne's mayor] Reker said." In other words, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it must be a zebra.
