5.7x28 mm Vs. Body Armor

The Firearm Blog tests the 5.7x28 mm from both the Five-seveN pistol and a rifle against a Kevlar helmet and soft body armor (Level III-A). SS190 rounds (designed to defeat armor and only sold to military and law enforcement) were the only ones that could penetrate the vest when fired from the pistol; none of the commercially available ammo could. Also, none of the ammunition used with the pistol could penetrate the helmet.

On for the rifle, any of the rounds used penetrated the vest, but only the SS190 could penetrate (barely) the helmet.
